This is the 2nd charity drive from the elementary section

Charity Drive

The generosity of the elementary students never ceases. The giving hands to help those less fortunate was welcomed by all collecting and donating clothes, shoes and other necessary items all with the focus of aiding in any way they can. This charity drive was very special because it enhanced awareness to global matters and real life circumstances allowing the students to look beyond their needs and wants by putting others needs first. It takes a humble heart and good intention which is exactly what these wonderful little helpers did. Well done elementary students!

Elementary Sport Day

We understand that living a healthy lifestyle is key, not only in developing good habits but it advances adrenaline and stimulation resulting in better concentration necessary for those long study days. Our fabulous PE department developed an active Olympic style program commencing with a well-coordinated opening ceremony, followed by events leading into finals, the medal awarding ceremony and closing ceremony. Our teachers were able to join in on the fun by competing in a 100m race that was celebrated and cheered on by the students. This was a well-organized day filled with healthy competition but most of all fun and a spirit of true sportsmanship was displayed by all.

The Arabic Reading Competition

The Arabic Reading Competition

The Arabic Reading Competition aims at the revival of reading and writing skills in the Arabic language throughout the community of Arabic speaking students. The Dubai government has organized this competition, which gained a huge popularity among Arab students within no time. Middle East International School also participated in this prestigious program in order to develop the students' knowledge, and allow them to avail a chance of being engaged and mixed up within the Arabic cultures and societies

The competition was meant to address the reading skills enhancement among all the Arabic-speaking students. Participants from all schools were welcomed. The aim of the program was to enhance and appreciate the reading culture in the Arabic language. Students from Kindergarten to gradee12 were invited to read books from various academic and non-academic disciplines. Participants were required to mention at least a number of 50 books; they have read or are planning to read. They will sit for a quiz based on the books they have mentioned.

The finalists will be attending the final round in Dubai sponsored by the Dubai government.

Charity Drive

The student council initiated a charity drive campaign to help those who are less fortunate. The first of the campaign was to help animals in need. The huge heart of the elementary students was shown with the massive amount of food and toys that were donated to the Second Chance Rescue shelter for animals in coordination with Parkview Pet Center. The shelter manager Amy was welcoming and showed great appreciation to the efforts of our students and their generosity. Well done elementary students, we are very proud of you and your kind heart, you helped feed all the dogs and cats at the farm.

Teacher Appreciation

Our teacher work so hard throughout the year and at times things can get challenging and hectic to say the least. The teachers are wonderful during times of stress, deadlines, changes, limited resources and a whole lot more by sticking together and focusing on getting the job done and supporting each other as a team. Our students know at times they have their good days and their bad days, but it is always the determination of our teachers that gets them through it all. Today was a way to show love and appreciation by presenting a heartwarming performance, speech and card presentation to each and every teacher to show how much they are loved and appreciated. For teachers everywhere, you really are appreciated and you have inspired many students to become better citizens.

Academic Night

A night to remember! Our teachers and students went above and beyond in showcasing their hard work and talents both on the stage and off the stage. The night started with students’ work being presented in view for all parents to enjoy. Teachers’ worked hard making sure all students work was displayed around the elementary section both inside the classrooms and outside. Students’ portfolios of high exemplar work including tests, essays, writing pieces, math sheets and more were visible for parents as well as projects, art work, paintings, drawings, even a statue made out of recycled materials. This is a night to show parents their child’s hard work and efforts while they are at school representing all subjects including Language Art, Math, Science, Social Studies, Qatar History, French, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Art, ICT and PE. The elementary section was transformed taking parents on a ride through an academic journey including a well thought out projector display of pictures taken during the course of the year. Parents were then escorted to our auditorium where the students entertained by performing songs, poem recitation, dance routines and plays which was loved by all. A great turn out and even better encouragement from our wonderful parents. Thank you to all of our teachers, students and parents.

Annual Autumn Costume Party

On October 31st, the MIS high school student council hosted the annual autumn costume party in the auditorium. In the weeks leading up to this event, student council hosted numerous bake sales in order to raise enough funds to pay for the special lighting, decorations and food at the event. We were very happy with the turnout, and all of the students enjoyed the opportunity to socialize and relax. There was also a high staff turnout, further strengthening our MIS community. At the end of the event, student council held a \'best costume\' party, in which students voted for the best dressed of the night. Abdullah (12B) won the competition, for his gingerbread costume. We thank all of the students for dressing appropriately and the staff for staying late for an after school function. Celebration of Qatar's National Day

In celebration of Qatar’s National Day, the Middle East International School of Doha, Qatar held an event in which the culture of Qatar was demonstrated by students, whereby a number of our Qatari students dressed in their traditional dress. This program enabled students from various nations to know more about Qatar’s facts, culture, and food.

Between 7:30 to 8 A.M., Kindergarten students and teachers made a parade to the auditorium dressed in colors of maroon and white, the colors in the flag of Qatar, holding a poster saying ‘National Day I ♥ Qatar’. The students were waving little flags of Qatar and some were even wearing a hat with the map of Qatar drawn by themselves. In the auditorium, Qatari students of KG showcased their traditional dance on the stage. Starting from 9:20 A.M., several students from Middle School showed off their literary talents for the Essay Writing Competition, coordinated by our librarian Ms. Shamna.

Under the host of Rim Abbas from 11-A, the program for Elementary, Middle, and High School students were held from 11:20 to 1:10 P.M. After reciting of the Holy Quran, National Anthem, as Salam al Amiri (Peace to the Amir) was played. A Group of Qatari boys performed a traditional dance of Qatar using swords.

A presentation of information about Qatar and its independence was read, followed by a ‘quiz bee’ consisting of 10 questions for students to answer. Throughout the entire program, Qatar’s traditional food, dessert, and tea were served in the cafeteria.

Without the help of our students and all faculty members, especially Mr. Nizar, our Head of Arabic/Islamic Department, the celebration for National Qatar would not have been so successful. Particular appreciations go out to the performers, the host, and M.I.S. Student Council and Mrs. Janette Bernardino.
